Change control in PMI-PBA is analytical, not just administrative. The strongest answers assess what a change affects, who needs to know, what evidence is needed, and whether the current baseline should move.

That requires impact analysis across requirements, plans, testing, transition, and value assumptions. Weak answers approve or reject changes too quickly without understanding the downstream consequences.

Stronger answers usually do

  • analyze the impact of changes across linked artifacts and decisions
  • use the approved baseline as the reference point for evaluation
  • surface tradeoffs in scope, value, timing, and risk before approval
  • route changes through the right governance or approval path

Common traps

  • treating every change as either obviously fine or obviously bad
  • overlooking trace links and downstream effects
  • updating documents without clarifying approval status
  • allowing silent scope drift because the change felt small
