AACE CCP Cost Management

Study AACE CCP Cost Management: key concepts, common traps, and exam decision cues.

Cost management is the largest CCP domain. It is not only a calculation domain. It tests whether you can connect cost engineering methods to a defensible management recommendation.

Read this chapter as a control loop. The project starts with scope and basis, develops an estimate and budget, authorizes work, measures actual performance, forecasts outcomes, and controls change. A stronger CCP answer explains where the cost information came from, how reliable it is, what the variance or forecast means, and what management should do next.

The two sections in this chapter focus first on the total cost management control model, then on estimate, budget, and control-baseline decisions. Use them before moving into interfaces and performance analysis because most later CCP questions depend on the same cost-management chain.
