PMI-SP Monitoring and Controlling

Study PMI-SP Monitoring and Controlling: key concepts, common traps, and exam decision cues.

This chapter follows Domain 3: Schedule Monitoring and Controlling (35%) from PMI’s current publicly posted PMI-SP exam content outline. It is the heaviest domain and tests whether the schedule stays accurate, analyzable, and decision-useful during execution.

Stronger answers in this domain use clean status data, disciplined analysis, and governed change control. Weak answers manipulate percentages, override logic, or treat schedule recovery as cosmetic compression without understanding the consequences.

Use the child lessons to move from data collection and statusing, into analysis and forecasting, then into change control and corrective action.
